Who is Eligible to Join?
Any person residing in the City of Lake Mills or Lake Mills Township with a Wisconsin drivers license, who is of sound mind and body and is at least eighteen (18) years of age, shall be eligible to serve as a firefighter in the Department. No prior training is necessary, all classes paid upon successful completion.
Requirements
- Complete Entry Level Firefighter (60 hrs)
- Complete Hazardous Materials Operations Level Certification
- Complete FireFighter I Training & Certification - By the end of First Year.
- Additional certificaiton may be required for specialized tasks.
- All new members shall spend the first twelve (12) months on probation.
- Members must be approved by the Police and Fire Commission after the 1st year to remain on the department and complete the probationary period
Member Selection Process
- Meet the living and age requirements.
- Submit a completed application to the Lake Mills Fire Department.
- Your application will be processed and reviewed.
- If selected, you will be contacted for a interview once a position(s) come open.
- The interview will be scored.
- Approval is required by both the Police and Fire Commission and the Chief to become a recruit fire fighter.
- All recruit fire fighters shall pass a medical examination prior to their start date.
